Perseo Bioethanol® is a innovative technology to transform organic residue (biodegradable municipal solid waste, HORECA sector, paper and cardboard) into high value commercial products: advanced bioethanol, to be used as liquid fuel or raw material for the chemical industry, and an organic residue with high calorific value for the generation of heat and electricity via cogeneration or biomethane and/or biofertilizer via anaerobic digestion/compost.
Moreover, the technology can be adapted for the production of other high value bioproducts by adaptation of the pretreatment in order to be applied to other fermentative processes.

PERSEO Bioethanol®, with the integrated biorefinery concept, is a patented biotechnology fully compatible with current waste treatment plants, offering projects specifically developed for each client.
The process can be adapted as an intermediate section of increased value in current plants, including incineration, anaerobic digestion or composting. It can enhance the waste treatment value chain and improve economic and environmental figures of waste management.

Perseo Bioethanol® is a patented biotechnology process developed by IMECAL for the transformation of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) into a second generation liquid biofuel that is suitable to be used as automobile fuel, and a organic fuel of high calorific power, able to produce thermal energy and electricity via biogas, biofertilizer or cogeneration through anaerobic digestion.
The elimination of daily produced MSWs by society is one of the main environmental problems nowadays. The energetic valorization of the OFMSW and its transformation into second generation bioethanol to be used as fuel, and a solid based fuel, is a great advance in the treatment and elimination of MSWs.
